The Mafia in South America
Argentina / Brazil / Chile / Paraguay
On 5th November 1972, just before he is about to be deported, Meyer Lansky voluntarily departs from Israel.
He lands in Zurich Switzerland and then heads for South America, where for two days, he travels through Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Paraguay and attempts to find refuge for a price of $1 million. He will be turned away.
Lanksy will complain later, have been refused permission to remain in Israel, although I am a Jew wanting to live in the promised land, a sanctuary for Jewish Refugees persecuted in Nazi Europe… and what about all those Nazis who are welcomed with open arms in South America whilst I am ‘verboten’, for no reason other than the fear of the USA’.
